A suicide blast in Islamabad's Sector I Ten killed a policeman

An explosion occurred in a taxi in Islamabad's Sector I Ten, as a result of which a policeman was martyred while two terrorists in the taxi were also killed.

As soon as the explosion was reported, a heavy police presence was called in, and the area was cordoned off.

According to the spokesman IG Islamabad, the explosion occurred when an official of the police team signaled the suspicious vehicle to stop.

The spokesperson said that the policeman has succumbed to his injuries while a policeman standing next to him is seriously injured. The martyred official has been identified as Head Constable Adeel Hussain.

The spokesman said that the blast was a suicide attack, security was on high alert in Islamabad and checking was underway, policemen had stopped the suspicious vehicle during the checking, and the suicide bomber blew himself up as soon as the vehicle stopped. The blast was caused by the detonation of explosives, and targeted police personnel.

Police officers have reached the spot, and relevant agencies are also reaching the spot. While after the Islamabad incident, security has been put on high alert across the country.
